GM is getting into the electric bike business

We blended electrification engineering know-how, design talents

General Motors said it plans to bring two new electric bikes to market next year — one folding and one compact — as the automaker makes a broader push into electrification and other ideas that try to move beyond its traditional business model of producing and selling gas-power vehicles.

The automaker didn’t have a lot of information to share about the e-bikes or its ultimate plans. For instance, Hannah Parish, director of General Motors Urban Mobility Solutions, wouldn’t say if GM plans to launch a bike-sharing service as a result of these two new products. “I can’t say anything is on or off the table at this point,” she added.

Uber teams with GM and Toyota to help 100k drivers buy cars to get more Ubers on the road

The expansion means hundreds of thousands more cars must come onto the Uber system.

To overcome its growing pains, Uber has come up with a brilliant new strategy. Uber is launching a pilot program to finance new cars. The company is partnering with GM, Toyota, and financial institutions to offer 100,000 driversreduced monthly car payments, in an effort get more Uber drivers on the road.

Three myths about genetically modified crops

GM crop technologies have seen dramatic uptake in the past 20 years.

It can be hard to see where scientific evidence ends and dogma and speculation begin in the debate over genetically modified (GM) foods and crops. In the almost 20 years since they were first commercialized, GM crop technologies have seen dramatic uptake. Advocates say that they have increased agricultural production by more than US$98 billion and saved an estimated 473 million kilograms of pesticides from being sprayed. But critics question their environmental, social and economic impacts.

GM Hy-Wire – Hydrogen Car of the Future

The General Motors Hy-wire hydrogen fuel cell vehicle has set the standard even among other futuristic hydrogen cars. Within its 11-inch thick skateboard chassis, the GM Hy-wire contains fuel cell (94 kw), electric motors and drive system that gives the most advanced design flexibility of any car to date. The weight from the drive components is also evenly distributed providing superior handling and resisting rollover forces.
