Traveling by air on a budget isn’t pleasant. Despite huge leaps forward in comfort for the upper classes (and the more recent “premium economy” class), the economy section of a cabin is more often than not cramped, packed, and charmless.  Seymourpowell,  a British design firm, has a seating concept that it believes will change that. Instagram photos that are mostly blue get more likes: Study

When Curalate, a visual analytics platform, set out to quantify the impact that different image qualities have on Instagram, it discovered that photos with blue as the main color got the most likes. Reds and oranges on the other hand tended to receive 24 percent less likes than blue-tinted shots. (Infographic)

Aeromobil flying car prototype makes its first test flight

Stefan Klein, a designer from the Slovak Republic, has announced the first flight of his Aeromobil Version 2.5, a flying car prototype he has been developing over the last 20 years. This vehicle is a strikingly beautiful design with folding wings and a propeller in the tail. But will its flight capabilities match its looks? (Photos and video)

GE reveals vision of what our homes will be like in 2025

GE rolls out their vision of the future.  Sometimes we often wind up with a bunch of design concepts that have zero chance of making it to market because those design concepts are  usually designed for “the home of 2050” or some other far-off date that nobody’s really thinking about yet. Toyota’s i-Road EV concept enters production

At the Geneva Auto Show earlier this year, Toyota showed up with a three-wheeled escape pod of an electric vehicle called the i-Road. At the time Toyota declared the diminutive vehicle production-ready.  Not many “production-ready” concept cars ever actually see the light of day, but as it turns out, in the case of the i-Road Toyota has already begun producing the slick little vehicles. A few weeks ago, the fourth annual National Beard and Moustache Championships, sponsored by Just for Men, took place in New Orleans. Average faces of women from around the world

The results of a recent experiment have been published by FaceResearch.org. Experimental psychologists at the University of Glasgow in Scotland have combined the faces of women around the world to approximate the “average face” of each country. Multiple images of faces are aligned and composited together to form the final result using a modern version of the technique that Sir Francis Galton pioneered in the 1800′s.
