A paris-based design company is looking to take the wearable devices trend to the next level with the visualization of ‘cicret‘, a bracelet that projects the screen of your smartphone directly onto your wrist. currently in the prototype phase, the wristband remotely hooks up to a mobile device and emits the interface onto the wearer’s arm, allowing them to read emails, play games, answer calls and check the weather on the surface of the skin.

The production of engineering of e-mobility components team from Aachen University built the Streetscooter ‘C16′ electric car using a Stratasys objet1000 multi-material 3D-printer. All the vehicle’s exterior parts, including the large front and back panels, doors, bumper systems, side skirts, wheel arches and a few interior components, were machine fabricated with tough digital ABS materials.

Kristof Retezár, a student at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, Austria, has come up with a new way to quench your thirst on the go. He has invented a little thing called Fontus, which he calls has invented a little thing called Fontus, which he calls a “self-filling water bottle for your bicycle..”

Kahol built a prototype of a device called the Swasthya Slate (which translates to “Health Tablet”).

Kanav Kahol was a member of Arizona State University’s department of biomedical informatics. He became frustrated at the lack of interest by the medical establishment in reducing the costs of diagnostic testing, and seeing almost no chance of getting the necessary research grants he returned home to New Delhi in 2011Kahol had noted that, despite the similarities between most medical devices in their computer displays and circuits, their packaging made them unduly complex and difficult for anyone but highly skilled practitioners to use. And they were incredibly expensive — costing tens of thousands of dollars each.

Nanosize batteries that are 80,000 times thinner than a human hair could revolutionize green energy. They could advance the use of electric vehicles, now limited by short driving ranges, and of renewable energy, which needs storage for times when the wind doesn’t blow or the sun doesn’t shine.

Researchers develop artificial spleen that cleans up blood infections

The ‘biospleen’ uses protein-equipped nanobeads and a magnet to cleanse blood of pathogens.

Researchers at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering have developed a high-tech method to rid the body of infections — even those caused by unknown pathogens. A device inspired by the spleen can quickly clean blood of everything from Escherichia coli to Ebola, researchers report on 14 September in Nature Medicine.

New microscope captures ultra-high-resolution movies of live 3D biomolecules

A new imaging platform called a “lattice light sheet” developed by Nobel laureate Eric Betzig and colleagues at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s Janelia Research Campus is a significant leap forward for light microscopy. It captures high-resolution images rapidly and minimizes damage to cells, so it can image the three-dimensional activity of molecules, cells, and embryos in fine detail over longer periods than was previously possible, according to the HHMI scientists.
