NSA installed spy malware on laptops purchased online

Der Spiegel based on internal NSA documents, reports that the signals intelligence agency’s elite hacking unit (TAO) is able to conduct sophisticated wiretaps in ways that make Hollywood fantasy look more like reality. The report indicates that the NSA, in collaboration with the CIA and FBI, routinely and secretly intercepts shipping deliveries for laptops or other computer accessories in order to implant bugs before they reach their destinations.

Top 12 social and content careers to watch in 2014

Social media (and all the content creation that comes with it) is a hot place to be.

It has been quite a year for the startup community and social and technology-related businesses. In just a few months, Twitter went public, Google Glass showed up on our train route to work, and YouTube hosted ‘live’ music video awards.

It’s the beginning of a new era for entrepreneurs and startups

Top 10 ways millennials are creating the future of work

Millennials will turn work into a game instead of a chore.

Over the next 10 years, millennials are going to make major shifts in corporations and most people aren’t ready for the amount of change that’s coming. Millennials will account for 75% of the global workforce by 2025 and by next year, they will account for 36% of the American workforce. At some companies like Accenture and Ernst & Young, they already account for over two thirds of the entire employee base.

Github doubled its repositories from 5 million to 10 million in 2013

GitHub hosts millions of developers’ repositories in the cloud.

For those of you new to the coding world, Github has become the goto place in the cloud where developers store their code. For many, it has become the replacement for traditional resumes, because prospective employers can view their latest projects in great detail.

Less than a year ago, in January, GitHub was closing in on the 5 million repos* milestone. Today, the company announced it’s hosting 10 million repos and counting. (”Repo” is short for “repository.” “Repository” is where your code lives. GitHub hosts millions of developers’ repositories in the cloud, where they can be shared globally and accessed from anywhere.)

The cyborg future of telemarketing

While a human is picking up the phone, and a human is dialing the phone, it may not be a conversation between two humans.

In the future humans will interact with each other, and machines, and systems that can only properly be called cyborg.  People are fielding millions of calls from bright, energetic telemarketers, but what they don’t know is that they’re talking to machines… Sort of. (Video)
