Nature News along with Columbia University, has created a Google Earth map that shows the different population sizes surrounding nuclear power plants. They are trying to demonstrate the danger threshold of other nuclear plants worldwide, compared to the ongoing nuclear disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi plant in Japan.

Annoyances like dropped calls, maps that take forever to load and echoing voices on a mobile phone.  And, the dreaded “Cannot Open Page” iPhone users have come to know so well.  These annoyances are only going to get worse because the airwaves that carry cellphone signals and wireless internet connections are growing more and more crowded.

Eric Whitacre’s Powerful Virtual Choir – ‘Lux Aurumque’

Composer Eric Whitacre has put together the Virtual Choir.  He combined 185 seperate singers from 12 different countries recorded independently and combined them into a single performance.  All were conducted by the composer through a prerecorded conductor track on YouTube.

Amazon Launches Kindle Library Lending

Kindle Library Lending

Amazon announced Kindle Library Lending, a program that will let Kindle users borrow books from more than 11,000 libraries in the United States. The program follows Amazon’s person-to-person Kindle Book Lending feature that debuted at the end of 2010 and addresses long-running concerns that e-readers like the Kindle would bypass libraries entirely.
