GE made a real 3D printed plane engine and here is a gorgeous look at it

The printed plane engine has arrived.

This week GE released this great GIF of its 1,300-horsepower advanced turboprop (ATP) engine in which more than one-third of the components have been built through additive manufacturing, or 3D printing. The company is showing off its creation in real life at this week’s big air show in Oshkosh, WI.

Ubitricity will start converting lampposts into EV charging stations

Ubitricity is a company out of Germany and their plan to convert lampposts to EV charging stations is underway. Ubitricity is currently using London lampposts that have been previously converted to LED lighting to also charge commuter EV vehicles. EV owners simply need to purchase a custom charging cable from Ubitricity that contains a meter that will track the user’s power usage and charge them appropriately. Don’t expect to just walk on up and plug anything you want into the charging port as the custom charging cable is what activates the port. No custom charging cable, no juice.

South Korea makes a 1000 kilometer per hour high speed train that will go from Seoul to Busan in 30 minutes

South Korea is seeking to develop a train-like public transport concept that is almost as fast as the speed of sound up 1,000 km / h, the Korea Railroad Research Institute (KRRI) said Tuesday. The state-run institute will join forces with other research groups and Hanyang University to build the near-supersonic “train”, which would be able to travel from Seoul to Busan in half an hour.
