Researchers have tried various power an propulsion systems, but they lack  speed, strength and control. However, with the creation of tiny engines, nanobots could be coming to living cells near you.

Permission has been granted to a biotech company allowing them to attempt to reactive the brains of brain dead patients using stem cells

An institutional Review Board has given ethical permission to stimulate the brains of  20 brain dead patients to see if people can be partly revived. The highly controversial study, ReAnimaproject, which will start next year in India, will stimulate the nervous system in order to restore the brain.

Public roads may soon see self-driving electric taxis thanks to GM and Lyft

GM has invested $1 billion in Lyft and self-driving car technology so they can start testing self-driving taxis on public roads. The program will feature electric Chevy Bolts and “real customers,” who will have the chance to opt in or out, but many details haven’t been hashed out.

Underground Swiss cargo tunnel requires steep investment

A feasible but costly plan to transport goods across Switzerland needs a lot of money to get started. The giant underground tunnel would reduce traffic on roads, but is quite costly. The first step would cost 3.4 billion dollars to dig a 66.7km length of tunnel.

Cancer detection made easier and more accurate with machine learning

Data collected from breast cancer exams, have been collected and can now recommend whether the lesion is benign or malignant, using lesion segmentation, characteristic analysis, and assessment processes. Samsung Medison has updated its ultrasound imaging system, RS80A, with the deep learning algorithm.

The world’s first certified Multicoptor, e-volo’s Volocopter VC200, premiered manned flights in Karlsruhe, Germany. Volocopter is designed to be a personal aerial vehicle, so easy and safe to fly, that anyone can do it. And due to its electric propulsion it has no tailpipe emissions and is remarkably quiet.

In the U.S. when government authorized patents expire, pharmaceutical companies rush to buy the patents and raise the prices of drugs by 6,000 percent. Martin Shkreli, at a conference, said he didn’t go far enough when raising the price of HIV drug Daraprim by more than 5,000 percent. Now with the rapid growth of digital and medical technology some may have to rethink their strategies for the future.
