Space junk is a growing problem — 200,000 pieces and counting — and as the amount of earth’s orbital debris increases, so does the chance some satellite will be involved in a cosmic collision. As this would cause much gnashing of teeth and woe for the affected terrestrial parties, some researchers from NASA’s Ames Research Center have pitched the idea of removing said junk with a laser — once again proving that everything’s better with lasers…

Most Socially Networked Cities in the U.S.

Washington D.C. is the most socially networked city in America.

A new survey released by Men’s Health magazine names the top socially networked cities in America.  The top spot goes to Washington D.C., a city where staying connected can get out the vote, and virtual handshakes help shape our nation.  D.C. ranked above Atalnta, Ga., Denver, Colo., and Minneapolis, Minn.  Palo Alto, Calif., home to Facebook, did not even make the list of 100 cities.

Volkswagen Bulli Microbus Comes with a Built-in iPad

Volkswagen announced plans for a re-imagined Microbus for 2011 at the Geneva Motor Show. Germans call this iconic vehicle the Bulli. This is Volkswagen’s modern rendition of the Microbus introduced in the 1960′s. This concept carries a 113 horsepower motor and a lithium-ion battery pack. Theoretically, a full charge will carry you up to 186 miles with an hour of downtime to come back to full charge. It comes bundled with Apple’s iPad, integrated throughout the car’s systems. The tablet can interface with the Fender stereo system, the navigation, and even the air conditioner. (Pics)

Lost City of Atlantis May Have Been Found By U.S. Research Team

Greek philosopher Plato wrote about Atlantis some 2,600 years ago, describing it as “an island situated in front of the straits which are by you called the Pillars of Hercules.”

A U.S.-led research team may have finally located the lost city of Atlantis, the legendary metropolis believed swamped by a tsunami thousands of years ago in mud flats in southern Spain.
