A feasible but costly plan to transport goods across Switzerland needs a lot of money to get started. The giant underground tunnel would reduce traffic on roads, but is quite costly. The first step would cost 3.4 billion dollars to dig a 66.7km length of tunnel.

High drug prices are restricting people who need access to potentially life saving medications, from getting what they need. In the U.S. when government authorized patents expire, pharmaceutical companies rush to buy the patents and raise the prices of drugs by 6,000 percent. Martin Shkreli, at a conference, said he didn’t go far enough when raising the price of HIV drug Daraprim by more than 5,000 percent. Now with the rapid growth of digital and medical technology some may have to rethink their strategies for the future.
India has become a global leader in pursuing smart city initiatives. Critics, though, are worried that most of India’s population, which still resides in villages, are being left out. Rjasthan Governor Kalyan Singh criticized India’s flagship Smart City initiative as being inadequate and insufficient for India’s smaller population centers. Singh urged the government, instead to develop smart villages to improve India’s overall economic growth.
A new program named “Gremlins” is DARPA’s new strategy for gathering intelligence, radar jamming, and other “friendly” operations over unfriendly skies. The program aims to deploy swarms of several, reusable drones, that are relatively inexpensive and lightweight, from aircraft or other platforms.
Lithium, the gasoline for Tesla Model 3 electric car, is causing a feeding frenzy that has only just begun. Unveiled on March 31st the car has already received 325,000 orders. Even the market know that this is more than just another electric vehicle, with its record breaking sales in its week one launch. Lithium will need significant advancements in order to keep up with the demand for these new vehicles.

A gender designed robot is a deception and can lead to confusion and deception of vulnerable users. Designing robots to resemble men, women, boys or girls is immoral, and breaks one of the five principles of robotics, that robots should not be designed to be deceptive or exploit. Thier machine nature should always be transparent.

On a clear day last fall, an attached smartphone-sized Raspberry Pi computer, was harnessed and carefully fitted onto a cat, by German digital media student Dennis Siegel. Cosmo, a fluffy Maine coon hit the streets with a small device designed to tap into and amplify local Wi-Fi networks. As Cosmo wandered through a nearby park, his wi-fi device “wardrive” launched a series of commands designed to locate open Wi-Fi networks and break the encryption algorithms of those that were badly secured. After getting into a network owned by an area resident or business, Cosmo’s wardrive amplified it, allowing anyone within up to 650 feet of the cat to freely use a Wi-Fi network they hadn’t been given permission to access.
