The construction of three gigantic new research lasers has been approved by the European Commission, with the option for a fourth that would, for an instant, be several hundred times more powerful than the entirety of the power generated by our civilization. Spark plugs have powered internal combustion engines for more than 150 years. Car manufacturers are one step closer to being able to replace this long-standing technology with laser igniters. The laser ingniters will enable cleaner, more efficient, and more economical vehicles.

A new study suggests that if you want to improve your child’s chances of getting into Mensa then bribe them during their IQ test. Offering a financial reward for doing well on an IQ test can increase their score by up to 20 points on the scale where the average is 100 and Mensa membership is around 150, according to scientists.
