3D printed blood vessels in teeth a viable alternative to root canal procedures

IMG_2838

More than 15 million root canals are conducted every year in the United States, but that number could soon start to drop. Dental researchers at the Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) in Portland, Oregon have developed a new method of engineering artificial blood vessels in teeth, as explained in a new study that could potentially revolutionize the dental industry.

Published in the journal Scientific Reports this month, the groundbreaking OHSU technique could provide an effective alternative to root canals by using a 3D printing-inspired approach. Continue reading… “3D printed blood vessels in teeth a viable alternative to root canal procedures”

Electric planes and $25 tickets could be the future of regional air travel

a

Imagine taking your next trip of a couple hundred miles. New York City to Boston, for example. Or Houston to Dallas. Tampa to Miami. The obvious choice now might be to drive. But what if you could show up at an airport at one of those cities, bypass security checkpoints, board a small hybrid-electric plane with luggage in hand, and be on the ground at your destination in about an hour — all for $25 each way?

How will maintenance change with the autonomous vehicle?

All machines eventually break down. Self-driving vehicles are no exception.

Autonomous vehicles pose two problems for the future of vehicles. The removal of the driver means there is no person providing feedback on how the vehicle performs over time. You are removing the point-person who says “something feels wrong, this needs to be checked out.” An autonomous truck could easily arrive at its destination with one fewer wheels than it left with at its origin without recognizing there is a problem.

The Dubai Hyperloop: Superfast Transport Closer to Reality

Speeding Into The Future

Over the past few years, a number of governments have stepped forward in order to bring a host of innovative technologies to life, and in so doing, they have accelerated the future as never before. Now, Dubai has just taken us another great leap towards bringing some of the world’s most futuristic ideas to life.

The Dubai Future Foundation recently organized an International Hyperloop Competition in order to help make the (seemingly) impossible possible. The two day competition had contestants design three Hyperloop terminals which were evaluated by a panel of judges.

Volvo’s Silent Electric Bus Detects Pedestrians And Honks At Them

Electric vehicles come with a huge benefit: peace and quiet. But that’s just what manufacturers are afraid of.

Volvo has come up with a novel way to for its silent electric buses to let pedestrians know that they’re there: The new bus detects humans in the road ahead and honks at them, just like a human driver might.
