Meet DribbleBot: MIT’s New Robot Can Dribble a Soccer Ball Under Real-World Conditions

The robot can dribble a soccer ball under the same conditions as humans.

MIT researchers have developed a new robot that can dribble a soccer ball under real-world conditions. The robot, named “Dribblebot,” uses advanced algorithms to control its movements and maintain control of the ball.

The Dribblebot consists of a two-wheeled platform with a robotic arm and a specialized gripper that can pick up and manipulate the ball. The robot’s movements are controlled by an onboard computer, which uses sensors to measure the position and movement of the ball.

According to the researchers, the Dribblebot can successfully dribble the ball in a variety of conditions, including uneven terrain and in the presence of defenders. The robot’s advanced algorithms allow it to adapt to changing conditions and maintain control of the ball.

Musk’s SpaceX to conduct maiden orbital flight of its future Mars vehicle Starship

The Super Heavy booster will attempt a landing in Texas near its launch site.

SpaceX, the space exploration company founded by Elon Musk, is set to conduct the maiden orbital flight of its Starship vehicle, which it hopes will one day carry humans to Mars. This will be a significant milestone for the company, which has been developing the spacecraft for several years.

The Starship is a reusable spacecraft designed to carry up to 100 people and large amounts of cargo to deep space destinations such as Mars. It consists of two parts: the Super Heavy rocket, which will provide the initial thrust needed to reach orbit, and the Starship spacecraft, which will travel to its destination and then return to Earth.

According to SpaceX, the maiden orbital flight of the Starship is scheduled to take place later this year, although the exact date has not been announced. The flight will be an unmanned test flight, which will allow the company to test the vehicle’s performance and gather data to inform future flights.

How Generative AI Will Transform Cybersecurity

Generative AI will help detect cyber threats and protect systems from human error and other vulnerabilities that lead to breaches.

In the world of cybersecurity, staying one step ahead of cybercriminals is a constant battle. However, the development of generative artificial intelligence (AI) may offer a new way to transform the field.

Generative AI, which involves using algorithms to generate new data based on existing datasets, can be used to create vast amounts of realistic-looking fake data. This can be particularly useful in cybersecurity, where it can be used to create decoy data to lure cybercriminals into revealing themselves.

Biomedical engineers create flexible robot to 3D print inside body

Biomedical engineers at Harvard University have developed a groundbreaking technology that could revolutionize the field of medical engineering. The engineers have created a flexible robot capable of 3D printing inside the human body.

According to the lead researcher, Professor Robert Wood, the robot’s flexibility allows it to navigate through narrow and winding passages inside the body with ease. “The real challenge in creating an ingestible robot is designing one that can move through the highly unpredictable environment of the digestive system,” he said.

The robot is made from a biocompatible material that can safely travel through the digestive system. Once inside the body, the robot uses a 3D printing nozzle to create structures such as stents, catheters, and other medical devices.

How humans can attain immortality in future? Ex-Google engineer predicts THIS

Former Google Enginner Ray Kurzweil.

Renowned inventor and futurist Ray Kurzweil has shared his vision of how humans could attain immortality in the future. In an interview with LiveMint, Kurzweil proposed that technology could provide a means of extending human life indefinitely.

According to Kurzweil, humans will eventually be able to use nanobots, microscopic robots, to constantly monitor and repair the body at the cellular level, effectively slowing down or even reversing the aging process. He also believes that merging human consciousness with artificial intelligence (AI) is necessary for achieving immortality.

Wearable Artificial Kidney: A Revolutionary Breakthrough in Renal Replacement Therapy

The development of a wearable artificial kidney is considered a significant breakthrough in renal replacement therapy. Unlike conventional dialysis machines that are stationary and require patients to be tethered to them for hours, a wearable artificial kidney would allow patients to move around more freely while undergoing treatment.

Dr. Victor Gura, a nephrologist and medical device inventor, is leading the development of the wearable artificial kidney. He stated, “It’s a revolutionary breakthrough in the sense that it can completely change the way we treat patients with kidney failure.”

The wearable artificial kidney is designed to mimic the functions of a natural kidney, filtering waste and excess fluid from the body. It is compact, portable, and can be worn like a belt. The device connects to the patient’s bloodstream via a catheter and uses a filtration system to clean the blood.

Japanese space company to create first artificial meteor shower

Japanese space company Astro Live Experiences (ALE) is set to create the world’s first artificial meteor shower, according to reports from CTV News. ALE’s meteor shower will be designed to be visible from the ground and is scheduled to take place in 2023.

The company will use a satellite to release small pellets into the atmosphere, which will burn up as they re-enter, creating the visual effect of a meteor shower. ALE founder and CEO Lena Okajima said in a statement, “We’re targeting the whole world, as our stockholders come from different countries and regions.”

The company plans to debut the artificial meteor shower during the opening ceremony of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which were delayed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, ALE postponed the event again, citing the need for additional testing and refinement.

3D Printed Robotic Hand Can Identify Objects by Grasping

Object recognition from sensors.

Researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) have developed a 3D-printed robotic hand that can identify objects by grasping them. The hand features a built-in camera that captures images of the object as it is grasped, which are then analyzed using an artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm to identify the object based on its shape, texture, and other features. The hand can also adjust its grip to better hold the object and prevent it from slipping.

Veronica Santos, a professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at UCLA and one of the researchers involved in the study, explained the potential of the technology: “Our work shows that it is possible to develop robotic hands that can identify and manipulate objects in the real world, without relying on external sensors or pre-programmed knowledge of the objects being grasped.”

BIOHYBRID IMPLANT PATCHES BROKEN NERVES WITH STEM CELLS

Neural interfaces have made great strides in recent years, but still suffer from poor longevity and resolution. Researchers at the University of Cambridge have developed a biohybrid implant to improve the situation.

Researchers at the University of Michigan have developed a biohybrid implant that can repair broken nerves using stem cells. The implant is designed to promote nerve regeneration and support the growth of nerve cells, potentially restoring function to damaged nerves caused by injury or disease.

The implant consists of two components – a synthetic scaffold that provides structural support and a layer of stem cells that aid nerve growth. The scaffold is made of a biodegradable polymer that gradually dissolves over time, allowing the nerves to regenerate and heal.

According to the researchers, the biohybrid implant has shown promising results in animal studies and could be used to treat various nerve injuries and diseases such as spinal cord injuries, traumatic nerve injuries, and peripheral neuropathy.
